A leading beverage manufacturer was faced with problems of product damages during transit. The losses were not just restricted to damaged goods but also included additional costs of labor for unloading damaged pallet loads, segregating goods, repacking them, disposing of damaged goods, etc.
Signode worked closely with the Operational Excellence team at the customer end to improve the Delivered Product Quality. Signode designed, developed and implemented the Airbags solution for a variety of trucks and SKU’s. The final solution for trials was to use two Airbags, placed in the middle of the pallets for the last two rows of pallets. Trials were taken at various plant locations and shipped to distances varying from 300 to 800 Kms. Trucks reached the destination without any damages thus validating the success of the solution.
